Frequently Asked Questions

Please don't hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions about Coffee Pods. We're normal people, we love to help and want to make a difference.

Using the Pods

What espresso machines are compatible?

Coffee Pods are suitable for use with domestic drop through Nespresso® machines only, excluding professional machines, 'built in' models and the new Vertuo range. They aren't compatible with Keurig, Tassimo, Dolce Gusto, Lavazza or Nespresso® Professional or Vertuoline systems. Please email info@coffee-pods.co.uk if you have any queries or questions.

How do I fill the pods?

Filling your Coffee Pods couldn’t be easier using our 10, 20 or 100 tray filler. Full instructions can be viewed here or watch the video. It takes less than 3 minutes to fill 10 pods with the finest coffee blend of your choice.

How long can I keep my filled pods?

Your filled Coffee Pods and bags of freshly roasted coffee will retain their natural flavour longer if stored in sealed containers in your fridge. Storing in a cool, dark place away from heat, a pantry or kitchen cupboard also works fine.

Upon filling your pods, we recommend using them within ten days. You can still use this product after this time, but the flavour will be at its very best within the first ten days.

I've got a Coffee Pod lodged in my machine, what do I do?

We recommend releasing used pods into the tray below immediately after creating your coffee. If your pod is lodged into the machine, use a teaspoon or the handle end of a spoon to push the pod out of the holder. In the unlikely event that the lid has come detached from the pod, gently push the lid off the serrated plate into the tray below.

Environment

How do I dispose of used pods?

Simply dig them into your garden soil. Covered pods in damp conditions should decompose into fertiliser within a month or so. If you have no facility to bury them in your garden, place used pods into your food waste bin or your general waste bin. Either way, they’ll end up in landfill and decompose into fertiliser within a few weeks.

How do I dispose of the delivery packaging?

All boxes and bags used by Coffee Pods use recycled materials, so placing the packaging into your recycling bin sends it back into a recycling programme to be used yet again. Great for the planet; peace of mind for you.

Can I grow seeds from the pods?

Coffee Pods love coffee too! Simply push a few seeds into the top of the pod before burying them in your garden. The seeds will thrive in your decomposing pods and improve the overall health of your garden.

Are all coffee pods compostable?

Sadly not. Any company promoting ‘compostable’ pods are hiding the true fact that they can only be decomposed using an industrial composting facility. Unfortunately, waste management facilities in the UK do not possess the machinery to separate out these pods. The UK government considers them to be contaminated and therefore have to be incinerated. Which is bad news for the planet.

What does biodegradable actually mean?

Biodegradable refers to the ability of materials to break down and return to nature. In order for packaging products or materials to qualify as biodegradable, they must completely break down and decompose into natural elements within a short time after disposal – typically a year or less. All the materials used by Coffee Pod are biodegradable. Which is great news for the planet.
